No, Maine Coons do not need to go outside. Some may enjoy it, but they do not NEED to go outside to live a happy, full life. If you would like to take your Maine Coon outside, there are some safe options you can go with, such as harness and leash training or an outdoor catio. Under no circumstances should a Maine Coon be allowed to be outside unsupervised, weather you live in the country of the city.

What is the personality and temperament of your Kings and Queens?

Personality and temperament are the third thing we breed for (behind breed standard and health). Our kings and queens each have their own unique, wonderful personality, but are all people-loving, attention-loving, and sweet. We would never add a cat to our breeding program who does not have those 3 traits.

Are Maine Coons generally healthy?

The answer to that can be tricky as so much of a cat's health has to do with the breeder. A good breeder who truly wants to better the breed and make people happy with his/her kittens, will do their best to breed overall healthy cats that will produce overall healthy kittens. However, unfortunately there are a lot of breeders out there who only care about making money, and their kittens tend to be sick their entire life.

We strive to produce quality, and overall healthy kittens with exceptional immune systems. For more information on what we do to produce healthy kittens, what you can do to keep your kitten healthy, At Star Kingdom Maine Coons, we take pride in being responsible breeders. Every cat in our program is carefully chosen for excellent breed qualities, strong genetics, and wonderful temperament. Our breeding cats undergo thorough health screenings—including genetic testing, hip x-rays, cardiac exams, and bloodwork—to ensure they’re fit to produce healthy kittens.

All of our Kings and Queens test negative for HCM, PKD, PKLR, and SMA, with reports available upon request. While kittens aren’t typically genetically tested, their veterinary records are always accessible.

We also maintain a spotless cattery, using FDA-approved Rescue cleaner to eliminate bacteria, viruses, and odors while keeping the environment safe for both cats and humans.

Finally, personality matters just as much as health. By selecting confident, well-adjusted cats with loving temperaments, we ensure our kittens grow into not only healthy companions but also the perfect family cats.
